INTRODUCTION

  • Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.

  • Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimise the risk of something breaking during installation.

  • Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.

  • Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.

  • In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer.

  

Note!

These installation instructions apply to left-hand drive vehicles. When installing in a right-hand drive vehicle, the procedure is carried out on the opposite side and/or mirrored. Where the operations differ, right-hand versions are also displayed with text and images.

  • Turn the ignition switch to position 0.


  • Note!

    Wait at least one minute before unplugging the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.

    • Open the hood and remove the headlamp's lock facing.

    • Remove the headlamp.

      Remove:

    • the clips by pinching the snap rings and then pulling them out

    • the cover panel.

    • Remove the cover panel for the left-hand fog lamp. First pry off the right-hand end until the four clips on the inside release. Then pull the panel off to the right


    Note!

    Do not damage the paint work.


    • Repeat the operation on the other side.

    • Take the cable harness for sensors from the kit

    • Route the connector from the inside and out through the hole, on the outside of the fog lamp

    • Repeat the operation on the other side


    Note!

    On left-hand drive cars the large gray connector must be on the right-hand side. On right-hand drive cars it must be on the left-hand side.

    • Take the new cover panels for the fog lamps and install a sensor in each panel.

    • Connect the connector to the sensor.

    • Repeat the operation on the other side.

    • Install the cover panel by first aligning it at the outer edge. Ensure that all catches engage

    • Repeat the operation on the other side.

    • Remove the central grille by detaching the catches on the inside and pressing the grille in.

    • Take the new central grille and install the two sensors.

    • Press the grille into the bumper. Check that all hooks engage.

    • Connect the remaining connectors to the sensors.

    • Install the cable clips on the bumper flange, under the left-hand fog lamp.

    • Route the cable harness behind the four catches on the central grille.

    • Route the cable harness from the central sensors by the catches on the central grille's sides. Secure using butyl tape.

    • Install the cable clips on the bumper flange, under the right-hand fog lamp.

    • Take the short cable harness from the kit.

    • Remove the taped connector from the cable.

    • Install the large connector to the cable harness from the sensors.

    • Route the cable harness on the outside of the side member, up to the headlamp.

    • Secure the connector using two tie straps at the existing cable harness.

    • Lower the car.

      Applies to right-hand drive cars

    • Route the cable harness on the outside of the side member, up to the headlamp.

    • Secure the connector using two tie straps at the cable holder (the clip) on the cable harness from the sensors.

    • Lower the car.

    • Remove the end panel.

    • Remove the middle sill trim panel by first prizing it off at the front edge and pulling it up until the three clips release. Following which, pull it away forwards.

    • Pull off the sill molding at the front sill trim panel.

    • Remove the front sill trim panel by first pulling it up at the rear edge until the clip there releases. Pull it backwards further until the clip in the middle releases. Following which, pull it diagonally downwards until it releases from the A-pillar panel.

    • Remove the screws and the panel.

    • Unplug the connector for the lighting.

    • Remove the seven screws.

    • Cut off the glovebox lighting tie strap, on the reverse of the glovebox.

    • Pull the glovebox out slightly and disconnect the gray connector on the rear side.

    • Remove the glovebox.

    • Move the carpeting aside. Make a cut in the thick insulating mat starting level with the blue connector of the central electronic module (CEM) and then continue straight down.

    • Move aside the insulating mat to access the grommet.

    • Pull the cable backwards and down to where the rubber grommet is located

    • Secure the cable at the cowl panel with two tie straps from the kit.


    Note!

    Make sure that the cable is positioned so that it is not damaged by heat or wear.


    • Reinstall the headlamp.

    • Raise the car.

    • Cut off a small rubber nipple on the new rubber grommet and thread the cable through.

    • Pull the cable into the passenger compartment. Adjust the length.

    • Install the rubber grommet and move the heat shield on the cable against the rubber grommet.

    • Reinstall the engine splash guard and cover panel for the bumper.

    • Lower the car.

    • Remove the rear seat cushion by releasing the catches at the front edge (1) and then pulling forwards (2).

    • Disconnect any connectors.

    • Remove the rear sill trim panel by pulling it up at the front edge (1) and then unhooking it from the clip (2).

    • Push the side cushion at the lower edge to one side and pull the panel so that the last clip (3) releases.

    • Fold the carpeting to one side from the lower edge on the B pillar panel.

    • Fold the backrest forward. On right-hand cars, both backrests must be folded forwards.

    • Fold up and fold forward the rear section of the cargo compartment carpet (1).

    • Lift out the cargo compartment carpet (2).

    • Detach the cargo compartment opening's sill molding at the rear edge and right-hand edge. On right-hand drive cars the sill molding must also be detached at the left-hand edge.

    • Remove the sill trim panel by first pulling it forward until the clips in the front edge release (1). Then pull it upward until the clips (2) at the top edge release.

    • Remove the four plastic nuts at the lower edge.

    • Lift off the panel from the studs.

    • Remove the three clips.

    • Lift off the panel and remove the connectors for cargo compartment lighting and any 12 Volt socket.

    • On right-hand drive cars, both the side panels must be removed.

      Applies to left-hand drive cars

    • Take the connector that was taped and connect it to the cable harness that was routed into the passenger compartment.

    • Install the pins for the cable ends into the connector as illustrated.

    6. Black (SB)

    • Slide the connector's catch back.

      Applies to right-hand drive cars

    • Take the connector that was taped and connect it to the cable harness that was routed into the passenger compartment.

    • Install the pins for the cable ends into the connector as illustrated.

    • Slide the connector's catch back.

    • Take the long cable from the kit and connect it to the connector which has just been prepared.

    • Place the connector in the holder.

    • Route the cable harness between the sill and carpeting.

    • Route the cable harness under the side cushion, on the outside of the mounting for the seat belt and under the backrest's lower mounting. Then follow the car's cable harness backwards.

    • Secure the it with a tie strap (1).

    • Route the cable harness backwards along the car's cable harness. Secure it using four tie straps.

      Applies to right-hand drive cars

    • Route the cable harness along the existing cable harness at the rear member, to the right-hand side where the parking assistance module (PAM) is located.

    • Secure with three tie straps.

    • Secure the cable harness excess by the car's cable harness on the floor. Use two tie straps.

    Cargo compartment

    Reinstall:

  • side panel

  • sill trim panel

  • sill molding

  • the cargo compartment carpeting.

    Passenger compartment

  • Fold the carpeting back at the passenger seat and B pillar.

  • Reinstall:

  • glovebox and new tie strap to the glovebox lighting. Tighten the two M6 screws to 10 Nm (7.3 lbf.ft).

  • sound proofing

  • the sill trim panels

  • end panel

  • sill molding

  • rear seat.
