IntelliSafe Support Upgrade

Find a Dealer

Op. No.: 36513-2

Via an update of the car's software, up to four of Volvo's later support systems can be enabled in your Volvo.

"Run-off road Mitigation", "BLIS™ with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert", "Oncoming Lane Mitigation" and "Oncoming Mitigation by Braking" are technical functions that have been developed and introduced on later model years. However, depending on when your Volvo was manufactured, it may not have all of them.

The "Run-off road Mitigation", "BLIS™ with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert" and "Oncoming Lane Mitigation" functions were introduced from model year 2018 and "Oncoming Mitigation by Braking" from model year 2019. By upgrading your car of previous model years with "IntelliSafe Support Upgrade" you get the same system as cars that left the factory during 2018 and 2019.

If your car is of model year -18 is already has "Run-off road Mitigation", "BLIS™ with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert" (provided it is has option code 603: "IntelliSafe Surround, BLIS") and "Oncoming Lane Mitigation", but does not have "Oncoming Mitigation by Braking" . "Oncoming Mitigation by Braking is therefore the only update that is needed for a car of model year -18.

The driver is always responsible for the operation of the car. The functions are for assistance only.

Run-off road Mitigation

"Run-off road Mitigation" assists against accidental driving off the road. If the car crosses the outer lane marking or the edge of the lane, the system helps you steer the car back on the road. If necessary, this innovative support system also applies the brakes to prevent the car from driving off the road. "Run-off road Mitigation" works at speeds between 65 km/h and 140 km/h.

BLIS™ with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert

BLIS™ helps you when you need to change lanes in busy traffic by warning you of vehicles in the left and right blind spots and provides power steering as needed. Cross Traffic Alert facilitates reversing by detecting crossing vehicles.

When a vehicle enters the blind spot or approaches quickly in a lane on any side of the car, BLIS™ can give a warning via a lamp in the left or right door mirror. If you do not react to the warning and start to move into another vehicle's lane, the Steer Assist function carefully helps you get back into your lane.

Oncoming Lane Mitigation

The automatic power steering system helps you avoid collisions with oncoming vehicles. If you cross a lane marking in front of an oncoming vehicle, the car automatically steers back and warns you. The function is active between 60 km/h and 140 km/h.

Oncoming Mitigation by Braking

This function is a unique support system from Volvo that can detect whether a vehicle is heading straight towards your car on the wrong side of the road. If a collision cannot be avoided, the car automatically brakes to further reduce the impact of the collision.
