INTRODUCTION

  • Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.

  • Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimise the risk of something breaking during installation.

  • Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.

  • Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.

  • In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer.

  • Clean the sensors. Use: Isopropanol.

Protect the connections' contact surfaces against paint.


  • Paint the sensors in colour code 426.

  • Use Volvo Touch-up paint (only use base coat)

  • Use: Volvo 2-K Varnish, P/N 31335447

Also read the instructions on the spray can.

  • Carefully pull off the ends of the bumper cover on both sides. They are secured by hooks at the top edge of the ends and at the lower edge of the rear lights.

  • Pull off the bumper cover from the rear of the body, it is positioned in seven guides at the top edge of the long side.


Note!

It is recommended that two people carry out this step to prevent damaging the bumper cover.


  • Place the bumper cover on a suitable surface.

  • Locate the four markings at the lower edge of the bumper cover. Make a mark in the middle using a scriber.

  • Drill at the markings using a Ø 3 mm (1/8") drill bit. Drill from the inside of the bumper cover.

  • Drill out the holes. Use a Ø10 mm (13/32") diameter drill bit.

  • Enlarge the holes in the bumper casing using hole cutter part no. 9997234. Place the hole tool's support sleeve on the inside, and the cutting part on the outside of the bumper casing.

  • Clean the lower inside of the bumper cover using a mild soap solution.

  • Clean an area around the holes that is slightly larger than the sensor holder. Use isopropanol. Allow to dry.

  • Take four holders from the kit.

  • Clean the surface of the holders illustrated. Use isopropanol. Allow to dry.

  • Apply a thin and even coat of activator to the cleaned surfaces as illustrated. Allow to dry for at least 10 minutes.

  • Locate the two studs for the control module.

  • Take the holder for the control module from the kit. Press it onto the studs.

  • Disconnect the light-brown connector that is taped to the car's existing cable harness.

  • Take the cable harness from the kit and route it through the hole. Install the rubber grommet.

  • Check which holders are to be positioned where before installation. Each holder is marked and has its own location.

  • Apply two pieces of tape to the holder.

  • Remove the protective tape for the tape.

Note!

The adhesive must be above the level for the tape.



Caution!

The adhesive must not come into contact with the tape.


Use special tool: 9512950 Adhesive gun.

Use: 1161730 Mixing pipe.

  • Install the centering tool in the holder.

  • Install the tool on the bumper cover.

  • Press the holder towards the casing, but only at the places where there is tape.

  • Hold the holder securely when removing the centering tool. The holder must be installed horizontally and in line with the bumper cover.

  • Repeat until all four holders are in place.

  • Connect the cable harness connectors to the sensors.

  • Install the sensors in their holders. Take care when installing so that the holder does not release from the tape.


Note!

The large gray connector must protrude from the right-hand side of the bumper cover.

  • Attach the cable holders to the cover's flanges.

  • Lift up the bumper and connect the connector.

  • Press the bumper's hooks in at the rear edge. Press all the hooks for the ends into the body.

  • Reinstall the screws on the front edges of the bumper casing.

  • Reinstall the plastic nuts at the lower edge.
