INTRODUCTION

  • Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.

  • Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimise the risk of something breaking during installation.

  • Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.

  • Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.

  • In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer.

Applies to the S80

  • Turn the locking knob (1) 90° (anti-clockwise) and fold out the rear side panel (2) on the left-hand side of the luggage compartment.

  • Clean the reverse side of the embossing (1) on the plate in front of the fuse holder with a mixture of 20 % isopropyl alcohol (P/N 1161721) and 80 % water.

  • Wipe dry.

  • Take a Velcro fastener from the kit and remove the protective tape.

  • Attach the Velcro fastener to the reverse side of the embossing (1). Start from the bottom. Press firmly so that it is properly secured.

  • Take the trailer module from the kit and clean the flat surface with a mixture of 20 % isopropyl alcohol (P/N 1161721) and 80 % water.

  • Wipe dry.

  • Take the remaining Velcro fastener and remove the protective tape.

  • Attach the Velcro fastener in the centre of the trailer module.

Note!

If installation of the trailer module is combined with installation of the tow hitch and tow hitch wiring, plug in all connectors to the trailer module first.


  • Position the trailer module in the centre of Velcro fastener on the body plate.

  • Attach the trailer module to the Velcro fastener. Press firmly so that it is secured.

  • Fold the side panel back into place.

  • Remove the upper rear clip from the left-hand front side panel in the luggage compartment and fold out the panel.

  • Remove the two floor hatches in the cargo compartment.

  • Remove the storage compartment under the rear floor hatch by turning the clips on the right-hand and left-hand sides 90 °. Lift out the compartment.

  • Remove the left-hand folding panel in the cargo compartment.

  • Remove the left side panel. Remove the cover and the screw from the front edge.

  • Pull the top edge of the panel out until the clips release.

  • Fold the panel inwards. Lift the panel out.

  • Clean the marked surface on the front end of the cover to the rear ventilation opening, left-hand rear wheel housing with a mixture of 20 % isopropyl alcohol (P/N 1161721) and 80 % water.

  • Wipe dry.

The car in the illustration is equipped with a CD changer, which can limit the amount of space.

  • Cut a piece measuring 90 mm (3 1/2”) long from both Velcro fasteners in the kit.

  • Remove the protective tape from one Velcro fastener.

  • Attach the Velcro fastener on the front end of the cover to the ventilation opening. Hold the opposite end so that a proper amount of pressure can be applied and the tape is held firmly in place.

  • Take the trailer module from the kit and clean the flat surface with a mixture of 20 % isopropyl alcohol (P/N 1161721) and 80 % water.

  • Wipe dry.

  • Remove the protective tape from the other Velcro fastener.

  • Attach the Velcro fastener in the centre of the trailer module. The module should be placed 15 mm (19/32”) from the end where the large switch is located.

  • Press firmly so that the tape is secured.

  • Lower the trailer module along the rear edge of the wheel housing so that both Velcro fasteners are facing one another. Allow the bottom edge of the trailer module to rest on the floor and press it firmly into place. Hold the opposite end of the ventilation opening cover so that the trailer module can be secured.

    Applies to cars with two rows of seats

  • Fold up the centre rear floor hatch (1). If the floor hatch is equipped with a grocery bag holder, the holder is secured with a strap on both ends of the storage compartment. Detach the straps.

  • Remove the underlying storage compartment.

  • Remove the floor hatch by folding it almost completely closed then pulling it backward from its mountings until it releases.

    Applies to cars with three rows of seats and integrated carrier bag holder on the underside of the centre floor hatch

  • Fold up the centre rear floor hatch (1).

  • Detach the two straps on the underlying panel. Lift up the rear edge of the panel, fold the floor hatch back towards the panel and lift out the floor hatch with the panel.

    Applies to cars with three rows of seats without an integrated carrier bag holder

  • Fold up the centre rear floor hatch (1) at the rear edge and lift it out.

    Applies to all models

  • Remove the left-hand side floor hatch (2).

  • Remove the folding side panel on the left-hand side of the cargo compartment.

  • Clean the marked surfaces on the embossing on the rear edge of the left-hand rear wheel housing under the fuse holder with a mixture of 20 % isopropyl alcohol (P/N 1161721) and 80 % water.

  • Wipe dry.

  • Take a Velcro fastener from the kit and cut a piece that is 30 mm (1 3/16") long.

  • Attach the trailer module to the newly installed Velcro fasteners on the rear edge of the left-hand rear wheel housing. Press firmly so that it is secured.

  • Reinstall the folding panel.

  • Reinstall the side floor hatch.

  • Reinstall the storage compartment (if applicable).

  • Reinstall the centre rear floor hatch.
