  • Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.

  • Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimise the risk of something breaking during installation.

  • Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.

  • Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.

  • Remove the C-pillar panel by carefully pulling it out at the lower edge so that the two retaining clips release.

  • Drill two Ø 6.5 mm (17/64 ") holes for clamping the cable at the upper edge of the boot lid, in the positions illustrated.

  • Press two cable ties with clips into the drilled holes.

  • Press the cable into a piece of butyl tape above the right-hand hole for the panel's clips so that it does not get trapped when the panel is reinstalled.

  • Tighten the cable with the clamps.

  • Carefully pry off the left-hand side of the rubber grommet so that the catches release.

  • Unhook the rubber grommet from the boot lid.

  • Carry out the same with the end that is in the body.

Note!

Reinforcements are located on the inside upper edge of the boot lid which can become blocked. Therefore, first insert the cable slightly to the left before inserting downwards.

  • Clamp the cable at the hole edge using a cable tie with edge clips.

  • Insert the piece of wire through the boot lid's rubber grommet.

  • Tape the connector and a piece of the cable at the wire.

  • Lubricate the taped connector with low temperature grease.


Note!

The low temperature grease must not contain water.


  • Remove the tape and wire spring.

  • Take the receptacle housing with catch for the camera cable's contact from the kit.

  • Press the receptacle housing onto the connector until a click is heard.

  • Press the catch securely into the receptacle housing.


Note!

The components are small and fragile, so take care when aligning the connector and receptacle housing with catch into each other to avoid damage and resulting poor contact.

  • Secure it using seven cable ties along the existing cable harness.


Note!

Ensure that the cable does not chafe against the panel edge in the body where it exits the rubber grommet in its right-hand mounting.


  • Insert a piece of wire under the rear edge on the load floor support along the thick cable harness and forward.

  • Tape the connector and a piece of the cable on the routed cable harness (Image B) on the wire.

  • Carefully pull the cable harness forward.

    Routing cable harness B

  • Take cable harness B from the kit and route it into the mat joint under the left-hand seat towards the tunnel console and in front of the mat. Leave some cable, approximately 350 mm (13 3/4 ") in length, outside the mat joint, so that it can later be connected to the control module that is to be positioned there.

  • Route it through the tunnel console, in front of the air ducts and out on the other side. If necessary, use a piece of wire to route the cables through.

  • Take cable harness C from the kit. The shorter ground lead has a lot of excess that can be hidden under the mat by the left-hand seat.

  • Tilt the left-hand seat back.

  • Place the two large connectors for the cable harness where the two 32-pin connectors were previously disconnected from each other.

  • Route the thinner ground leads (1) into the mat joint in the same direction as cable harness B, along the member for the front seat mounting where the control module will be installed later on.

  • Pull up the shorter ground lead (2) from the mat joint so that approximately 350 mm 13 3/4 " protrudes from the mat joint.

  • Continue to route the longer of the ground leads the same way as cable harness A backwards towards the rear crossmember.


Note!

Ensure that the cables do not come into contact with moving parts in the tunnel console and that they are not at risk of being cut.

    Only applies to left-hand drive vehicles.

  • Route through the thicker cable (3) to the display through the tunnel console in front of the air ducts and out the other side. Use a wire to route the cables through, if necessary.

  • route the ground lead the same way as cable harness A towards the rear crossmember.

  • Press the B pillar panel into place again.


Note!

Ensure that the ground cable is routed so that it is not at risk of being trapped or cut by sharp edges or similar.

  • Clamp the ground cable using cable ties at the rear edge of the cable duct.

  • Press two cable ties with edge clips in the bracket legs for the electric parking brake, or media player, and clamp the cable to these.

  • Tighten the ground screw. Tighten to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf.ft.).

  • Splice the black ground lead in cable harness C and the cable splice from the kit.

Pressing the sleeve

  • Insert the crimping sleeve in the press tool P/N 9512785. Select the socket as per colour coding. Clamp the pliers together slightly, but only so that the crimping sleeve remains in the pliers.

  • Insert the cable in the crimping sleeve until it reaches the stop.


Note!

Make sure that the cable insulation does not come into the press area of the sleeve or that the stripped part or the cable extends outside of the sleeve.


Illustrations B and C

  • Press the legs of the pliers completely together to ensure a proper splice. The pliers will then release automatically.

  • With your hand, check that the crimping sleeve is securely in place.

Heating the crimping sleeve

  • Place a suitable shield behind the cables to be crimped to prevent thermal stress to the surrounding area.

  • Warm the sleeve with a hot air gun, P/N 9512777, and suitable nozzle. It is extremely important that the crimping sleeve be securely crimped around the cable. You should be able to see that a little bit of glue has been forced out around the cable. (Illustration B).
