Color symbols

1. Used for focused part, the part that you are to do something with.

2. Used as extra colors when you need to show or differentiate additional parts.

3. Used for attachments that are to be removed/installed. May be screws, clips, connectors, etc.

4. Used when the component is not fully removed from the vehicle but only hung to the side.

5. Used for standard tools and special tools.

6. Used as background color for vehicle components.

Removal

• Remove the screws.

• Remove the screws.

• Remove the screws.

• Unhook the end of the bumper cover at the front edge from the catches on both sides.

• Carefully pull off the ends of the bumper cover until the catches at the rear edge, at the rear fender and under the tail lamp, release.

• Pull the bumper cover backwards.

• Disconnect the connectors under the right-hand tail lamp. The catch is underneath.

• Remove the screws.

• Remove the screws.

• Remove the screws for the mountings on the rear silencer and lower until it bottoms.

• Twist the mountings downs.

• Remove the three clips from the radiated heat shield and remove it.

• Bend down the protruding ends on the radiated heat shield to gain better access to the inside of the members.

• Remove the cover plates from the inside of the side members on both sides.

• Thoroughly clean away splashes of underseal, putty or dirt from the plate surfaces on the insides of the side members where the reinforcements are to be located.

Accessory installation

• Check that the contact faces inside the side members are clean. If necessary, clean opposite where the towing member's side plates are to be fastened.

• Take the towing member from the kit and insert the two side plates in the holes at the rear edge of the side members.

• Take screws and reinforcement bar from the kit. To hold and adjust the position on the towing beam two people should work together when the screws are inserted in the towing member's weld nuts. Use workshop lift part no. 9985972 and fixture part no. 9995972 under the silencer to position it for better access.

• Tighten the screws alternately on both sides.

Tightening the screw joint

• Tighten the screws to 140 Nm (103 Ibf.ft.) and angle tighten to 60°. Use tool part no.9997338 to facilitate access. When angle tightening joints in confined areas a protractor cannot be placed on the torque wrench. Use the head of the hexagon bolt instead to determine the tightening angle. Use workshop lift part.no. 9985972 and fixture part.no. 9995972 under the silencer to position it for better access.

• Mark the bolt head's flange (1).

• Make a second mark (2) in the side member or reinforcement bar.

• Tighten the screw so that the screw head marking (1) lines up with the marking (2) on the side member/reinforcement bar.

• Repeat for all screws.

Installation

• Straighten out the radiated heat shield.

• Reinstall the clips.

• Reinstall the screws.

• Reinstall the screws.

• Apply low viscosity rustproofing agent to the marked bare sheet surfaces on both sides of the collision member as well as to the rear edge of the rear side members on the right and left hand sides.

• Reinstall the screws.

Applies to vehicles with standard spoiler

  Note! Saw so that the marking on the inside that marks the cut-out remains.

  
  

• Smooth off the sawn edges with a fine toothed file.

Applies to vehicles with skid plate

• Apply tape to the outside of the bumper cover, opposite the markings on the inside. Do this to protect the paint from the saw when cutting out the cut-out for the tow hitch.

• Remove the tape.

• Smooth off the sawn edges with a fine toothed file.

Applies to vehicles with R-design

• Remove the template from the kit and cut along the dotted lines.

Place the template in the bumper cover.

Place the template with the cut-out radii against the bumper cover's radius.

• Tape the template to the bumper cover.

Saw out the marked area.

Installation

• Install the screws.

Applies to standard load floor

Applies to load floor with carrier bag holder

• Take the label from the kit and affix it firmly to the underside of the cargo compartment floor.

• Secure it at the corners using staples.

Applies to all vehicles

• Insert the hook in the bag and tighten.

• Take the holder for the protective casing from the kit and press it into the hole for the tow hitch. Make sure that the catch (1) snapped shut and that the holder is fitted securely.

• Press the protective casing into the holder until it is in contact with the bumper cover. A number of clicks must be heard when the protective casing is pressed in.

• Check that the protective casing is fitted securely.

Removal

• First pull the lock arm upward until the catch is released, then pull the protective casing away backward.
