EU energy labelling has been introduced for tyres to make it easier to get a quick overview and compare different makes and versions.

1. Fuel consumption (rolling resistance)
The letters on this seven-point scale indicate the rolling resistance of a specific tyre. The higher the rolling resistance, that is to say friction, the higher the fuel consumption. Choosing a tyre labelled A - minimum rolling resistance or one labelled G - highest rolling resistance, can make a difference in fuel consumption up to 9%1
2. Wet grip
Wet grip is a very important aspect of safety. Tyres with good wet grip give a shorter braking distance on wet roads. A corresponds to the shortest braking distance and G the longest.
3. Noise level
The noise level that the tyres produce is indicated in three stages, with the value given in the black arrow. One black sound wave symbol corresponds to a low tyre noise level and three sound wave symbols a high tyre noise level.
