Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (dTPMS)1 is a monitoring system for the tyre pressure. A correctly inflated tyre means less tyre wear, lower fuel consumption and safer driving.

The TPMS system uses sensors that are located in the air valves to monitor tyre pressure levels. When the sensors detect an incorrect tyre pressure, the warning lamp illuminates on the dashboard to indicate incorrect tyre pressure. A message also appears in the driver's display. When the tyre pressure lamp illuminates, this means that one or more tyres has an incorrect tyre pressure.

Facts and advantages

  • Volvo recommends TPMS sensors on all the wheels of the car.

  • The TPMS system indicates incorrect air pressure, but does not replace regular tyre maintenance.

  • When the car travels at 30 km/h or faster, the sensors supply data to a receiver inside the car.

Note!

This page does not apply to the S80L.

Note!

The TPMS system uses a 434 Mhz radio frequency. Electrical equipment that uses the same frequency can cause system interference and must not be installed in the car. Contact an authorized Volvo dealer for further information.

Note!

TPMS can also be installed on steel rims installed in the factory from and incl. Ch 166874-.

  1. Direct TPMS (dTPMS) contains sensors and an application. Indirect TPMS (iTPMS) only contains an application, and is used on cars from Ch 188517-.
  2. Ordered according to separate procedures and downloaded using VIDA.
