The software download is a preparation to be able to download new maps and obtain updated information about road and motorway changes, new roads and new points of interest.
To be able to update the RTI system's digital maps in the future you first need to buy the Application. The maps can then be downloaded online at no extra charge via a 32GB (requirement) USB memory. You do not need to use a DVD to update the maps, instead only a USB memory which is easy to dock in the car.
The advantage of upgrading your navigation map is that you receive more accurate navigation which leads to calmer and more economic driving.
