With the electrically folding towbar you do not have to stretch beneath the car to detach or remove the towbar. Pressing a button in the luggage compartment fold the towbar out. A simple hand movement positions the towbar in a locked position.

For increased safety there is a light indicator on the button that indicates that the towbar is locked. If the towbar is unlocked a warning message is shown in the car's combined instrument panel.

The trailer module manages the electronic communication between the vehicle and trailer.

With the help of the light control function in the car's display, the lamps on the trailer illuminate in a sequence which makes it easier to check the lighting.

If, when driving, there is a fault or problem with the trailer's direction indicators or brake lights, the trailer module immediately sends the driver information.

The towbar is equipped with the "FIX4BIKEĀ®" system. It allows the installation of future accessories specially prepared for "FIX4BIKEĀ®".

For complete towbar installation, the Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) function is activated. The task of Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) is to stabilise a car with a connected trailer in situations where the car/trailer combination starts to snake. The function is part of the ESC stability system1.

Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) constantly monitors the car's movements, especially laterally. If snaking is detected, individual wheel braking occurs, which provides a stabilising effect on the car/trailer combination. This is usually enough for the driver to regain control of the car. If snaking is not suppressed despite the first engagement of Trailer Stability Assist (TSA), the car/trailer combination is braked by all wheels, combined with a reduction in the engine's driving force. When snaking is gradually suppressed and the car/trailer combination is stable again, the system cancels the regulation and the driver regains full control of the car.

Each Volvo towbar has been designed for your Volvo. They are an integral part of the car's body and have been tested to ensure that they meet the most stringent safety and function demands.

Note!

The car must be equipped with option prep 1091 (VDN 2A06) from the factory in order for it to be possible to fit the towing bracket. In certain markets, this option prep is removed as standard. Markets affected may vary over time.

Note!

The stability function disengages if the driver selects sport mode by activating ESC sport mode via the menu system in the centre display.

Note!

The towbar is tested for the maximum towing weight and tow hitch load, but depending on the car version, it may be lower. For precise information, see the car's owner's manual or contact your local Volvo dealer.

Note!

The chassis numbers for the Trailer Module (TRM) refer to structure week 23w46, when an updated version was introduced. This means that the updated module will need to be installed on all vehicles manufactured after this week.

The chassis number series (VIN) may vary depending on the vehicle's place of manufacture. To identify your vehicle's place of manufacture, refer to the 11th character in your chassis number. This special digit or letter is unique to every factory and indicates which of Volvo's factories built your vehicle. It is important to be aware that two vehicles with otherwise identical chassis numbers may have different origins based on this character.
