Some steps in these installation instructions are presented with illustration only.
Undo the front screw in the mounting for the centre console.
Take the bracket for the passenger compartment connector socket from the kit. Tighten it in with the previously removed screw.
Align the bracket so that it is straight and torque tighten the screw to 24 Nm (18 lbf.ft.).
Press a locking sleeve (from the kit) onto the passenger compartment connector socket. Slide the locking sleeve as far along the terminal for the passenger compartment connector socket as possible.
Take a carpet knife and cut a slit in the carpet just in front of the locking sleeve. Make the cut as long as the diameter of the locking sleeve.
Do not damage any wiring and hoses under the carpet.
Remove the passenger compartment connector socket from the bracket and fold the carpet to one side.
Pull on the previously removed radiated heat shield so that it covers the entire junction connector on the heater.
Take a grey cable tie from the kit. Tighten the radiated heat shield for the connector on the heater.
Take the junction connector, the long cable for the passenger compartment connector, one large and two small locking sleeves from the kit.
Lubricate the O-rings on the junction connector and the connector on the cable which was disconnected from the electric engine heater using low temperature grease.
Do not get any grease on the surfaces of the connector.
Secure the cables (1) to the passenger compartment connector and electric engine heater properly in any socket in the junction connector.
Secure the cable (2), which was previously disconnected from the electric engine heater, properly in the junction connector.
Press the locking sleeves over the joints.
Position the junction connector with cables at the cable harness which goes into the cold zone at the rear edge of the air cleaner, as illustrated. Insert the long cable for the passenger compartment connector behind the controls for the gearbox and down in front of the steering gear.
Clamp the junction connector to the cable harness using cable ties from the kit.
Adjust the length of the cable from the rubber grommet and out into the engine compartment so that it runs true and does not come into contact with any moving parts in the engine compartment.
Insert the cable into the passenger compartment.
Press the rubber grommet into the cowl panel.
Hide all cable excess under the carpet in the passenger compartment.
Route the cable from the engine compartment through the hole in the carpet.
Lubricate the O-ring using low temperature grease.
Ensure that no grease gets onto the connector surfaces.
Connect the cable to the passenger compartment connector socket. Press a locking sleeve (from the kit) over the joint.
Fold the carpet back into position. Install the passenger compartment connector using both the screws.
