INTRODUCTION

  • Read through all of the instructions before starting installation.

  • Notifications and warning texts are for your safety and to minimise the risk of something breaking during installation.

  • Ensure that all tools stated in the instructions are available before starting installation.

  • Certain steps in the instructions are only presented in the form of images. Explanatory text is also given for more complicated steps.

  • In the event of any problems with the instructions or the accessory, contact your local Volvo dealer.

  

Note!

This accessory requires software unique to the car.

Preparations

  • Turn the ignition key to position 0

  • Remove the key from the ignition switch (does not apply to cars with automatic gearboxes)

  • Disconnect the battery negative lead.


    Note!

    Wait at least five minutes before disassembling the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.

Removing the door mirror

Carry out steps - on both the left and right-hand sides.

    Removing the painted cover

  • Remove the painted cover (1). Carefully pull the top edge of the cover backwards and upwards by hand

  • If the cover is secured too tightly to remove by hand, use a weatherstrip tool. Insert the weatherstrip tool between the cover and the surround for the mirror. Pry the cover backwards and upwards.

    Remove:

  • the cover (1) for the door mirror. Pull the cover straight out

  • the clips (2). First press in the centre of the clips until a click is heard

  • the cover (3) for the door handle. Use a weatherstrip tool

  • the two screws (4) from under the cover

  • the door panel. Slide the panel upwards and unhook the top edge

  • the mechanical lock cable and existing connectors. Place the door panel to one side.

Illustration B applies to the S80

    Remove:

  • the clips (1). First press in the centre of the clips until a click is heard

  • the blind cover plug (2) and the screw from under the washer

  • the surround (3) around the handle carefully. Use a weatherstrip tool for example

  • the cover for the door mirror (4). Pull the cover straight out

  • the door panel (5). First unhook the panel. Then lift the panel out

  • the mechanical lock cable and existing connectors. Place the door panel to one side.

  • Disconnect the connector (1)

  • Remove the nut (2) and the door mirror.

    Transferring the mirror glass, removal

  • Fold the mirror glass inwards as illustrated

  • Insert a weatherstrip tool at the inner edge, as illustrated. Carefully turn / pry while pulling out the outer edge so that the external catch releases

  • Work out the glass

  • Remove the terminal pins from the mirror glass.

    Transferring the mirror glass, installation

  • Connect the terminal pins to the new mirror glass

  • Fold out the mirror mounting on the motor

  • Ensure that both glide rails on the mirror are in the grooves. Hook the mirror glass into the inner mounting. Press the mirror glass into place.

  • Install the new door mirror. Connect the connector, see point .

  • Reinstall the door panel. See point .

    Reinstalling the painted cover

  • Reinstall the rear edge of the cover. Work the cover into place against the surround

  • Press the cover in under the surround. Ensure that all hooks click into place.


    Note!

    The cover must slide into place with a minimum of force. Do not attempt to reinstall the cover forcibly.

Installing the switch in the panel

Applies to the S60 and V70 (00-)

  • Remove the panel in front of the gear selector lever. Carefully pry off the panel using a plastic weatherstrip tool

  • Move the gear selector lever as far back as possible.

  • Press in the catches on the front edge of the gear selector lever panel. Lift the panel upwards, first the front edge and then the rear edge. Remove the panel around the gear selector lever.

Illustration B applies to the S80

  • Carefully remove the panel (1) and the boot. Pry carefully using a weatherstrip tool.

  • Remove the two screws from the dashboard environment panel.

  • Move the gear selector lever as far back as possible

  • Pull the panel (1) and the boot as far backwards as possible. Turn the panel as illustrated

  • Remove the screws (2) from the dashboard environment panel (3).

  • Carefully angle the dashboard environment panel out using a plastic weatherstrip tool so that it is possible to insert a couple of fingers to gain access to the side of the dashboard environmental panel

  • Remove the dashboard environment panel. Pull it downward, maintaining the same angle

  • Disconnect the connectors on the reverse of the dashboard environment panel.


    Note!

    If any of the outer hooks break off, these must be repaired. See the section dealing with the dashboard in VIDA.

  • Remove the cigarette lighter

  • Position the dashboard environmental panel as illustrated

  • Detach the surround (1) by carefully pushing down the three catches (2) in the holes (3) using a small screwdriver. At the same time pry out the surround using a thin weatherstrip tool. Starting at the 12 volt socket (4), pry up one corner. The surround is tightly secured so take care not to damage any components

  • Remove the surround.

  • See the owner's manual for the position of the switch

  • Remove the switch blank. Install the new switch (1)

  • Reinstall the surround and the cigarette lighter

  • Connect the connectors to the dashboard environment panel. Reinstall the dashboard environment panel. See point -

  • Reinstall the panel around the gear selector lever and the panel in front of the gear selector lever.

Finishing work

  • Turn the ignition key to position II

  • Reconnect the battery negative lead

  • Program the software according to the service information in VIDA.
