A hitch especially introduced for the North American market. With the electrically folding towbar, you do not have to stretch beneath the car to detach or remove the towbar. Pressing a button in the luggage compartment folds the towbar out. A simple hand movement positions the towbar in a locked position.

For increased safety there is a light indicator on the button that indicates that the towbar is locked. If the towbar is unlocked, a warning message is shown in the car's instrument cluster.

The trailer module manages the electronic communication between the car and trailer.

With the help of the light control function in the car's display, the lights on the trailer illuminate in a sequence that makes it easier to check the lighting.

If there is a fault or problem with the trailer's direction indicators or brake lights during driving, the trailer module immediately sends the driver information.

Volvo's Trailer Stability Assist technology (TSA) interacts with your Volvo's DSTC system1. If the trailer starts to sway back and forth at speeds in excess of 50 km/h (31 mph), TSA can brake one or more wheels to regain stability and maintain control.

Each Volvo towbar has been designed for your Volvo. They are an integral part of the car's body and have been tested to ensure that they meet the most stringent safety and function requirements.

Note!

The towbar is tested for the maximum towing weight and tow ball load, but may be lower depending on the car version. For precise information, see the car owner's manual or contact your local Volvo dealer.

Cannot be combined with hitch-mounted accessories designed for 50 mm ball diameter.

Note!

The depth of the receiver is limited. The distance is 2,6 inches, measured from the center of the hole for the locking pin to the bottom of the receiver.

The distance between the outer edge (mouth) of the hitch tube to the center of the locking pin is 1,5 inches.

With Volvo’s bicycle holder for towbar hitch direct-mounted in the connection (rectangular profile), the total load capacity is limited to 200 lbs/4 bicycles.

A 7/4-pin plug adapter (not included) may be required for some trailers.

Note!

Never use the towbar together with a hitch weight distribution system. The towbar hitch is only designed to tow a trailer or fit a bicycle holder. For more information, see the Owner's Manual.
